Nail your home page headline (stat)
What are you doing if you're not working on nailing this for your startup?
Here's why: The first thing that people see – your home page banner headline – often goes untouched (or partially tinkered with) while you pour hours into decks, campaigns and funding announcements.
And when people go to your to site to check you out (after receiving your pitch deck, seeing a post, etc.), if your home page headline doesn't clearly explain your value or capture their attention...
... they'll drift, bounce, roll into the abyss faster than you can say: "Isn't there an AI tool for that?" 😫
So this week’s 1% challenge is to carve out 15 minutes to revisit that home page line:
🎯 Does it still reflect what your startup does today, not six months ago?
🎯 Is it written for the person you most want to reach clearly, specifically and with their perspective in mind?
If you’re not sure where to start, these formulas can help:
➡️ We help [who] do [what] so they can [achieve what].
➡️ [Product differentiator] for [audience] who want to [outcome].
Then use your favourite AI tool to workshop these inputs into clearer punchier headlines. Once you've got it, use it on your social media bios too.
Remember: you're not aiming for an exceptional Don Draper style tagline or a full messaging overhaul. Just enough clarity for someone hitting your page to think, “Ah, got it.”
Most people will give you five seconds, or maybe less. Make them count.
