I have built a multi-year career around high-level stress reduction and tactical interruptions. I’m the loyal companion to our Co-founder, Gemma, but I’ve worn many hats - from official stick auditor to lead background talent. My diverse background gives me a deep well of experience to draw from, across all aspects of startup culture. (And many amusing stories, like alerting my mum loudly of an unexpected house visitor not realising she was in the middle of a very important presentation.)
My natural habitat is any patch of sun on the office floor - I'm essentially a solar-powered floor ornament. I've carved out a niche helping the Stella team manage their energy; my specialty is the 3-4 PM 'witching hour,' where I remind them that no complex marketing problem can be solved without a brisk walk, or a crazy run in circles. While they help founders thrive, I provide the essential service of reminding them to stop, reset, and hydrate. (My preference is coconut water.)
To do it all again! I feel lucky to have my team and work I enjoy, which keeps me curious and constantly sniffing out new opportunities. I also push Gemma out of bed for an early beach run, because it feels like we've already won the day before 8am (and I've already chased at least one ball).
Cutting through the 3 PM 'witching hour' slump and getting to the heart of productivity. I remind the team that the best ideas often come after a walk, not during the tenth straight hour of staring at a screen.
My ideal Friday night is a warm, cozy night, chewing on a pig's ear while Gemma (aka Mum) unwinds.
